Baby Boomers, We Are The 7th Generation

So, how are we doing as humans? One look at the news and you can see we are making big changes. We have a collective history that is painful, exciting, scary, beautiful, pitiful, glorious, and at times absurd and ridiculous. We may be in an absurd and ridiculous time right now. We are being trickstered by our own intellect. As we evolve and gain more technological ability and continue to use and abuse more and more resources/products from the earth. We continue to devolve to accept the diminishment of resources, life on the planet, and societies. Are we content to accept to be less than we are? While at the same time consuming more to prove what we think we are?

The majority of people are disappointed, at the very least, in what we have created on mother earth. We are responsible, and yes we are in a major, huge leap in collective consciousness. Hopefully this will lead to physical consciousness, like feeding and housing everyone, maybe a little less warfare, and real health and wellness. We are peering over the edge ready to expand globally, psychologically, socially, spiritually, and I think emotionally. Emotions drive us, if we are uneducated about this we will sabotage our selves over and over again. How do we behave in real emotional intelligence?

Plato said “all learning has an emotional base”.

One way to understand your emotions is a personal exploration of your internal thoughts, intentions, motivations, values, desires, fears, wants and needs. Emotions are far more than the surface feelings of fear, anger, sadness, happiness and the other basic feelings we experience everyday. We experience wide ranges of very subtle feeling all day everyday. That is; if we are not too medicated legally or otherwise, or numbed out by TV or other distractions, like war, poverty, affluence and other trickster qualities. The key is to recognize your emotions and understand how to respond with enough intelligence and coherent thought that we avoid behaving like a raging, spoiled, angry child. It is a choice/path/way to become educated as a more whole person. Immature emotions cause us to overreact or to be overly opinionated. When we are adult/mature in our emotions we act within our opinions and still allow others their opinions without threat, or fear, or loss of self esteem. It’s common to hear people getting too loud about thier opinions when they are fueled by immature, fearful and insecure emotions.

Do you even know if you are an adult? How do you measure that? So how does one grow up? Don’t be undereducated and overly opinionated. Educate your self about human emotion, and how it can suddenly sabotage and interfere with your own reasonableness. Change your emotional growth and expand into a new realm of behavior. Some ways to do that might be…using your immense intelligence, or using one of the worlds varied and countless spiritual/religious ways.

There have been many claims of how the nuclear age, or the information age, or even the industrial age were the greatest changing ages or they were the most influential on human culture.

I suggest that this era of amazing “modern” things including AA, self help groups, all the pop-psychology, personal growth and insight that emerged from those groups, will actually have the most influence on how humans are, do, grow and become. It is the people who choose to heal and become better, that will grow and expand our human culture and our collective consciousness. We have survived through many ages on mother earth, everything from the dark ages, to the industrial age, the nuclear age, horrific genocidal ages. Always within these painful ages, we have created beauty, art, compassionate acts and powerful societies. We are now in the information age……where do we grow from here?

Each era or age that we survived passed faster and faster exponentially as we grew and became more whole collectively and as individuals. I feel we are being called or coerced into this exponential growth right now. It is instinctive in our DNA. Our innate drive and desire is for life and for us to get better. Getting better as a whole human being. Getting better as sociteies. Getting better collectively as human relatives. Getting better in ways that are not measured in material gain, or technology but measured in how we truly behave toward all of life. We are living in the greatest opportunity humans have ever witnessed, to change and evolve forward as a mature, caring species. Caring for all of life, not just “our own kind”.

Right now we are entering the Wisdom Age! The Wisdom Age! Right now within our reach and at our command is our collective experience, intelligence, creativity and capacity to help.

Setting Goals The SMART Way

Having aspirations and dreams of success is different from setting up goals. Dreams and aspirations are useless if there is no chance for them being actualized. They will remain to be mere fantasies if no corresponding action is done to make them come true. Of course, these dreams and aspirations should be within the capacity of a person to accomplish or at least the circumstances can be modified.

A person cannot achieve anything significant without first setting goals. Efforts will be directionless without any intended end or aim. Similar thing can be said if the goals are too vague. An unclear set of goals is almost as useless as not having any goal. If the goals are too difficult, then they are also less likely to be accomplished even if they are clear.

Setting up goals can be guided by the simple acronym S.M.A.R.T. This is a mnemonic device was first used in the November 1981 issue of Management Review by George T. Doran. It is used to identify and define key performance indicators. The letters stand for specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely or time-bound.

Sometimes the acronym is expanded to SMARTERS. The additional letters stand for E(valuate), R(evaluate), and S(satisfactory). The SMART mnemonic is applicable for setting goals for both organizations and individuals.

Specific: A goal must be as clear and as detailed as possible. One can start from a vague or general objective and work on the details from there. For example, a vague goal could be to lose weight. To make it more specific, the questions of who, what, when, where, which, why, and how should be answered. Hence, the previously vague goal can be re-stated as: “I will workout for health reasons at least three times a week in a gym with a qualified instructor.”

Measurable: Parameters or criteria should be established that will allow for the measurement of work progress. These can also correspond to the short-term objectives that are intermediate in achieving the ultimate goals. It can also refer to the allocation of resources. Case in point, a student who is striving to become a physician must first pass the required curriculum and take the necessary board exam.

Attainable: A goal that is attainable is not necessarily easy. It simply means that there are ways which to achieve it. Efforts in terms of learning new skills or improving skills, working hard, and raising necessary resources will be needed. Oftentimes, it will also entail sacrifices. Greater efforts are needed as the goal becomes more difficult.

Realistic: This may seem synonymous with being attainable. However, realistic goal emphasizes on the level of commitment and dedication. Sometimes achieving higher goals becomes realistic because of the motivational factors involved. Being realistic also means working within abilities and external circumstances.

Timely: Goals can only be accomplished if they are time-bound. There must be a specific timetable for achieving goals. It could be days, months or years. Having a clear timetable will provide the sense of urgency and prevent procrastination. The achievement of goals become closer as every milestone is reached given a specified deadline.

1. Make gratitude a major part of your daily life.

When’s the last time you were truly grateful for something? How good did it make you feel? Wouldn’t it be nice to have that feeling every day?

OK, so you might not get engaged every day or get to find out you’re pregnant every day. However, even little things can make you feel incredibly grateful. It’s up to you to make the most out of them!

By focusing more on what you DO have (instead of what you DON’T have), you’ll find it’s easier to be grateful for even the littlest of things. As a result, you’ll get to have that good feeling all the time – and you’ll be a much happier person!

2. Stop and smell the roses.

If you constantly feel rushed and disorganized, you’re never going to feel happy. If you want to experience true happiness, you’ve got to take some time away from the office, away from the phone calls, and away from the emails and get some “me time”.

Start today by taking a walk, reading a chapter from your favorite book, listening to your favorite band, or taking a warm bubble bath. None of these things have to take very long, but they’re crucial to how you feel about your life. Without them, you’ll never be truly happy!

3. Enjoy the ride.

Oftentimes, people are unhappy because they’re so fixated on the end result they don’t appreciate everything that gets them there. The truth is – every time you do something that gets you closer to your ultimate goal (no matter how small), you’re making progress. If you can learn to enjoy those milestones, you’ll be a much happier person. As an added benefit, the end result will be even sweeter when you take note of everything that went into it along the way!

Above all else, remember happiness is a choice. Sure, there are always going to be things in life that make you temporarily unhappy, but it’s up to you to prevent those things from taking over your life. If you want to be happy, choose to be that way – every day!

Untruth, dishonesty – in a word – Lying . Even if we complain about duplicity in our lives deceit is a certainty in our lives. Yet, we do not need to be a victim to unscrupulous charlatans in our lives. We do not have to be lead around by the nose and taken advantage of since deceit isn’t something most people can do without giving hints about their sham statements. Signs of lying are all over the place if you recognize what to look for and how to listen for lies. Detecting liars can be an talent all of its own, but in this piece I plan to highlight a couple a straightforward signs of deceit (a growing nose is not one of them though).

Each person provides clues when they are ‘economical’ with the truth. Some people are more obvious than others of course, and many signs are more, or less subtle than others. It is an incredible feeling when it is possible to start noticing these things again and again, however it takes practice. To provide an example, have you seen the new James Bond film they played a deadly game of cards? The antagonist in the movie had a tell tale sign of lying as he was bluffing at cards that Bond detected (It was actually a ruse by the bad guy but the principle is sound!).) A anxious twitch of the eye each time he was bluffing (the same as lying) on his hand.

So, understanding that many people have a tell? in their everyday life, not just cards is exceedingly helpful when you are recognizing liars. More complex techniques can be utilized to discover individuals unique signs of deceit, nevertheless you will discover a huge number of very general signs that you are being lied to which can be extremely convenient to remember. A Guide To Productivity Skills

Being productive is one of those self-evidently good ideas! Let’s face it, who wants to be unproductive? And yet for all that, most of us have never taken time out to work on our productivity skills. In fact, most of us probably don’t even know what productivity skills are!

The first thing you need to know is that productivity is not a mythical skillset, or one particular thing. It is the application of logic to the tasks that all of us do on a daily basis of how to stop procrastinating.

It is essentially the act of measuring what we do in our daily lives and then working on methods to make it faster, smoother or better.

For example, if you find yourself making ten cups of coffee in a day (guilty as charged!) then productivity could actually be enhanced by figuring out how to make those cups of coffee quicker. If each cup of coffee takes you eight minutes to make, after you have phaffed about going downstairs, switching on the kettle and waiting around, then that is a very real drain on your time management tips.

You could literally be spending over an hour every day making coffee!

If that describes you then developing productivity skills to make that coffee in five minutes could save you almost three hours every week!

The point of this simple example is to demonstrate that productivity skills really are the stuff of everyday life. They are the ways that you spend your time and they are also the methods that you employ to get things done.

Sometimes the biggest productivity skills are actually developed when you realize that doing a task that you could pay others to do for you is a better use of your resources. If you can’t cook then it makes little sense (unless you fancy learning), to spend hours every day trying to learn a skill that you are poor at and don’t enjoy. Instead you are better off getting a takeaway!

Productivity skills then are developed when you take a long hard look at your particular circumstances and start to draw firm conclusions about things that you can do differently. It is in these moments of change that you really grow as a person in any case, because it is more fun to be productive and achieve more, rather than feeling like you are spinning your wheels getting nothing done and not really fulfilling your potential.

Take time out of your day to make an honest assessment about where you stand in terms of your overall productivity and where you spend your time. It will reward you with all kinds of ways of saving time and methods of being more productive.

How do you attract women, by the way? By looking good. However, looking good is not always about your facial features being similar that of celebrity heartthrob. Though, that makes a plus, all you really need to be is look healthy, which can be achieved through a proper diet that includes a good 8 hours of sleep.

A Routine to Follow

When you sleep for 8 hours a day, you can be at your best physically wise. That’s not going to be enough, though. As mentioned earlier, a healthy diet is required that composes proper exercise and healthy choices of foods. As a tip, sleep an hour earlier than the usual so you can wake up at least 30 to 60 minutes before you have to run some errands again, especially the work related ones. Do some stretching as soon as you get up from bed. Eat a slice of bread, a fruit and drink a glass of milk. 10 minutes after having this light and healthy breakfast, start warming up with some stationary jogging. Follow that with some push ups, sit ups and other cardio exercises. This routine will boost the energy levels in your system and elevate the amount of endorphins produced – thus giving out a vibrant you.

If you ask me, there really isn’t any secret. As long as women see you in a rather focused manner, active and just contagious vibrant, they will definitely dig in to you, even without you noticing at times. Contrary to that, by looking weak and just without concentration, women will not to question be repelled from you.

As a man yourself, you were designed to attract woman. If you find it hard to do so, then there’s something wrong with your daily routine. Nevertheless, start practicing a healthy life as soon as now, especially if you don’t want to end up dull and unattractive.

Your Emotions – Your Choice

You have your day all planned out. You get up, you choose what you are going to wear, what you are going to have for breakfast, what time you have to leave if you are going somewhere, what route you will take, you have your E.T.A., you know what is intended for your day and you are off and away.

Then… maybe before you even leave the house things change and with that, your

customary way of being shifts as well, just like that.

It’s like one moment you are traveling along a beautiful country road, the sun is shining, and you’re enjoying the scenery and fresh air. Perhaps you are listening to or singing at the top of your lungs to your favourite song, or having a great conversation with someone.

In what seems like in a blink of your eye, something/someone shifts that pleasant mood.

You find yourself detouring off this peaceful joyful road onto an emotional one you would rather not travel. But travelling you are, and perhaps even picking up some speed along the way.

I’m sure you have had a day or two like this. I know I have. All you want to do is quickly get back on that joyful drive, but somehow you can’t, at least not right away. You feel like you don’t have a choice.

Knowing that you have options on how to steer through your emotions helps when you are spinning out of control or squealling your tires, so to speak?

People handle emotions differently. What sets you off doesn’t necessarily have the same effect on someone else.

Some folks become overwhelmed. Their emotions seem to take over and they find themselves reacting. Feelings of hurt, anger, jealousy, unfairness, shame, guilt, and past resentments are now in the driver’s seat steering their way.

Others avoid their feelings. Feelings, what feelings?. They block them out, shut down, busy themselves, pretend everything is fine, and find as many detours as possible away from them.

There isn’t a right or wrong way of experiencing emotions, but there are choices. One is to learn what’s going on when you’re feeling stuck in them or when you are denying them.

When something/someone sets your emotions in motion, notice what the feelings are and how you are acting or reacting because of them, or if you are bypassing them all together.

Once you determine what’s going on then you can choose if you want to stay stuck, evade, or learn from them. The choice is yours and yours alone.

If you elect to delve a little deeper, good for you. When you do, you will come to see these feelings aren’t so bad after all. In fact, they have a lot to teach you. How cool is that?

They are like road signs showing you what’s happening along your journey. Pointing out what needs a little construction on your continuing thoroughfare of life.

Look at the beliefs that are surfacing and resurfacing for you. Trust me, there will be at least one or two for you to ponder.

A belief towards a thought creates the emotion, or else it’s just a thought.

See if you can determine what the beliefs are within the emotion.

When you are clear about what they are then you can choose to work with them instead of allowing your emotions to take over the navigating. This only adds more stress, or weaving in and out trying to elude them only to find they are around the next corner.

Then you are in a better position to choose to believe differently, do differently, respond differently, etc.

Remember, your emotions are like a road under construction; when you work on them, it makes for a much more enjoyable journey.

Use these insights abd techniques to assist assists you in seeing what your emotions are showing you and what choices they are offering.

Personal Goal Setting: 4 Important Things You Miss Doing

In personal goal setting, you need to identify the vital things you would most likely miss doing. If you skip or overlook such things, you may not be able to achieve your goals.

Here are some of the common things people tend to omit, forget, or simply ignore doing.

1. Not evaluating your resources.

Even if you are working on goals that are focused on you personally, know that you still need the help of other people in one way or another. Once you have realized that you need the help of other people, make a list of all possible resources. List down all the names of people who are willing and capable of helping you. Make sure you identify why and how they can help you; identify their knowledge and skills. Also, make a plan on how you can ask them to help you. It would also help if you look for someone you know who have set and achieved a similar or the same goals as yours. Ask what strategies he used to reach such goals.

2. Not defining your convincing reasons for wanting to reach your goals.

One of the most important things people forget doing when setting personal goals is not asking themselves why they truly want to achieve their goals. This is extremely important, because the moment you convert your subconscious motivations into words, it will definitely make a huge difference. Oftentimes, the reasons behind the things we do are enough to keep us going until we finally achieve what we aimed for. So, you need to clarify the reasons behind your goals. Make sure they are compelling enough that they always give you a certain push you need every time you feel like slacking or giving up.

3. Not listing down the rewards you can obtain from achieving your goals.

If you have a list of all the good things you will be able to get from reaching your goals, you will be doubly motivated to work on them. That list will become one of your inspirations to work hard in getting what you aim for.

4. Not identifying the consequences of not obtaining your goals.

Identifying and listing down the rewards of accomplishing your goals is as important as defining the consequences of failing to reach your goals. This list can also be one of your motivations as well. If you know and regularly review the things on your list of all the not-so good things that may happen to you if you do not reach you goals, for sure, you would want to work and be persistent until you become successful simply because you do not want bad or unideal things happen to you.
