Here Are 6 Of The Splashiest Media Weddings Ever

Trump wedding

With the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on the horizon, global media just can’t get enough news relating to the big day.

While the world media elite may not have an ancient monarchy to inherit, it’s still a big deal when the rich and powerful folks in the business get hitched.

From Donald Trump and Rupert Murdoch to stars of The View and executives at CBS, the ceremonies are big, bold, and expensive.

Donald Trump and Melania Knauss

Donald Trump‘s third wedding, this time to Melania Knauss, took place on January 22, 2005 in Palm Beach, Florida. Among the 450 guests were HIllary Clinton, Katie Couric, Barbara Walters, Rudy Giuliani, Star Jones, Simon Cowell, and Kelly Ripa. Knauss wore a $100,000 Christian Dior gown fitted with more than 1,500 hand-stitched crystal rhinestones and pearls. Guests snacked on a five-foot high, 200-pound, seven-tier Grand Marnier chiffon cake with nearly 3,000 icing roses.

Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump

On October 25, 2009, real estate scion Jared Kushner married Ivanka Trump, the daughter of Donald Trump at a relatively understated wedding at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. Ivanka wore a Vera Wang gown — inspired by Grace Kelly — while Regis Philbin, Barbara Walters, Rupert and Wendi Murdoch, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, and Andrew Cuomo were among the 500+ guests.

Carolyn Bessette and John F. Kennedy Jr.

Married in secret on September 21, 1996, Carolyn Bessette and John F. Kennedy Jr. had a relatively small wedding of 40 guests. Held on Cumberland Island —located off the coast of Georgia — in the First African Baptist Church. Candles and kerosene lamps lit the chapel, which had no electricity. Bessette wore a $40,000 floor-length Narcisco Rodriguez gown, made of pearl-colored silk crepe, hand-rolled tulle silk veil, and long silk gloves. Her shoes, made of beaded satin, were by Manolo Blahnik. Among the guests were Kennedy’s cousin, Anthony Radziwill, who served as best man, and Caroline Kennedy, the maid of honor.
